Donations
Different types of donations are made for different situations: Remunerative, Inter-Spousal, Inter Vivos, and Mortis Causa to name a few. Donation is a legal term used to describe the act of giving or donating property or assets from one person to another without expecting anything in return. In a family context, an act of donation usually involves a family member giving something of value to another family member, such as property, money, or other assets. Generally speaking, the act of donation may be done out of love, gratitude, or as a way to help a family member in need. It is important to note that an act of donation is a voluntary act, and the donor must have the legal capacity to make the gift. The donation is without effect unless the recipient formally accepts the gift during the lifetime of the donor. Once the gift is made, the recipient becomes the owner of the property or asset, and the donor no longer has any legal claim to it. Call us to determine which donation best suits your needs.
